The solar printer of Augustin Mouchot and Abel Pifre

In Paris, at the meeting of the Youth French Union in the Tuileries Garden on August 6th, 1882, the engineers Abel Pifre and Augustin Mouchot used a solar concentrator to power a mechanical Marinoni press through a steam engine.
With this installation, they printed up to 500 newspapers per hour, titled for this special occasion : “The Sun Journal”.
