The converted hydrogen car (and solar concentrator) of Jean-Luc Perrier

Jean-Luc Perrier’s solar concentrator (50 kW) was able to transform solar energy into hydrogen by electrolysis of the water. The concentrator heated the water inside its central furnace, producing the pressurized steam used to run an electric generator.

He also converted his Simca 1000 car to an hydrogen combustion vehicle, being able to run the car with the hydrogen he produced. His car could work and emit nothing but water vapor. In 1979, he published a reference book entitled “Solar Energy: current status of applications” in the French Technical and Scientific Editions.
At the top of his very creative career, Jean-Luc Perrier died in a mysterious accident, hit by an oil tanker truck.
