Ferdinand Porsche developed the first Porsche, the Egger-Lohner C.2, which was 100% electric. Then follows a first car with two electric motors placed directly on the front wheels thus inventing the first motor-wheel. The car can travel only 80 km at low speed. Ferdinand Porsche then adds two other motors on the rear wheels, creating the first 4WD electric vehicle. However, the car (1800 kilograms of batteries) is still unable to climb steep slopes. At the Paris Car Show in 1901, Lohner and Porsche exhibit an improved version of their car. A small engine was added to recharge the numerous batteries, enabling the car to climb the slopes. The first hybrid 4×4 at the beginning of the automobile adventure was born.
