Wind turbine water tower

In 1901, the town of Pargues (France, Aube department) decided to build a water tower for supplying a set of fountains waterers scattered throughout the village. The aim was to provide people with pure water throughout the year. The tower was located above a deep source which water was elevated in the tanks by a pump driven by a wind turbine located at the top. The construction took place the year after, in 1902, based on the plans drawn by the architect Ludovic Sot. He designed a high tower built in stone, animated with a beautiful and throughly executed brick decoration. The wind turbine was provided by a manufacturer from Orleans, Henry David. The wings of the turbine, with a diameter of 9,50m, were made of wood.
